Somerset State was launched in April 2023 by Evolves founder, Matt Cairns who previously lived in San Francisco. With the aim of providing as many children of all ages and abilities the opportunity to access fantastic coaching in the game of basketball. Somerset State quickly grew from the first coaching centre in Midsomer Norton to three coaching Centres across Somerset, with the third opening in Langport in September 2024. 

Somerset State currently coaches over 160 children per week and is proud to have such brilliant coaches working across our venues ensuring the fun, development and safety of all our young basketball players. 

From September 2025, our Somerset State All Star Squads will be launched, which invites U12 and U14 players who are ready to take their basketball journey to the next level of commitment. Joining us for up to 2.5 hours of court time a week, strength and conditioning sessions in the gym and travelling to games in the WEBBA league. 

We currently have Somerset State Coaching Centres in the following locations:

Our team of qualified experienced coaches are dedicated to helping your young players achieve their goals. Whether they are only just getting into the game of basketball and learning the basics, to playing regional level for another club and looking for fantastic extra coaching we have role model coaches to support your players reach their level of success!
